Team 4: Surface, Interface and Nanostructures (SIN)

Team Leader: Prof. NEMAMCHA Abd Elrrafik

The research objectives of the INS team are based on the fundamental concepts of materials science. They are based on the development of functional materials with interesting properties related to their structures and surfaces.  This requires an understanding of the formation mechanisms of these materials at the macroscopic and nanometric scale, depending on the synthesis parameters.  This experimental approach is supported by simulation methods integrated into data processing software.

Research areas: 

          The main areas of research developed by the team members are: 

• Synthesis of inorganic materials (ceramics, nanopowders, nanoparticles, metal alloys, thin films) by wet and dry processes.
• Study of the structure of materials.
• Investigation of the surface of nanostructured materials and physico-chemical phenomena related to interfaces (Solid-gas; solid-liquid)
• Study of thermal, mechanical and magnetic properties.
